ENJOY YOUR SUMMER WITH  FUN BOOKS TO READ 
  • Bachorz - Candor.    In the town of Candor every kid is perfect.  Oscar knows the secret why & for a fee he will help you escape.  A pleasant light SF novel.
  • Collins - Hunger Games.   A futuristic retelling of The Lottery.  Teens from each area of the country are pitted against each other in an extreme reality television show as they fight to the death.  SF
  • Forman - If I stay  Mia survived a car accident that killed her family.  In her coma she reveals events from her life including the accident while she decides to live with her grief or join her family in death.  A thought provoking read.
  • Korman - Pop   Football player Marcus is not happy to be moving, but at least the new school has an undefeated team. The quarterback, Troy, hates him due to a girl.  He meets an ex-NFL linebacker, Charlie, who teaches how to take the "pop" of intense contact. Charlie is Troy's dad.
  • Green - Paper towns   Quentin has idolizes Margo the girl next door, since early childhood. Prior to their HS graduation he joins her for a night of pranks.  The next day she disappears. Quentin & friends unravel clues she left in an attempt to find her. A great read for upperclassmen. 
  • Madigan - Flash burnout: a novel.      Sophomore Blake is newly experiencing the BF/GF relatiionship when he shares a photo, of a passed-out meth woman on the streets.  This woman is the misssing meth mom of classmate Marissa. Conflicts occur as he attempts to be the BF Shannon wants, yet support Marissa,  who is a needy friend. A book full of lessons for teen, yet not heavy handed.  Mature readers.
  • Mancusi - Gamer girl   When her parents divorce, city girl Maddy is sent to live in the country with her grandmother. At the new school she is called Freak Girl.  She retreats into manga & online games.  A trendy book with traditional student problems.
  • Stiefvater - Shiver    A yellow eyed wolf has been watching Grace since childhood.  After a local wolf attack, Grace finds a yellow eyed human wounded in the woods. He is her wolf.  A werewolf love story for all those Twilight fans. 
  • Smith - Flygirl.   A WWII novel that deals with the threat of prejudice with race and gender in America.  Ida Mae wants to fly.  As a light-skinned African American she passes for white so that she can join the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs).  A fictional look at an often overlooked part of US history.
  • Wyatt - Funny how things change  HS grad Remy is trying to figure out how to leave his family's WV mountain to follow his college bound girlfriend.  A visiting college student, on summer job painting murals, challenges him to face who he is and what really matters.  A wonderful read especially for seniors leaving home.
