Transforming Dreams - Securing the Spalding Future
Archbishop Spalding High School has achieved a commanding place in the Greater Baltimore and Washington area by continually renewing a promise made over 40 years ago: to provide a rigorous college preparatory education grounded in Catholic ideals and committed to excellence.
The synthesis of knowledge and religious belief has produced a family of alumni engaged in business, law, engineering, education, the priesthood, ministry, health care, and the humane disciplines. To their professional careers, these Spalding graduates bring a mature and active faith, a deep respect for truth, high standards of personal integrity, and genuine concern for others.
But merely maintaining these commitments is not enough. Because we are a Catholic school, we aspire to become much more. In the 21st century, we intend to remain one of the finest secondary schools in the country. To realize such greatness - to become a truly distinguished Catholic school - we must address challenges in three strategic areas:
- To provide space and facilities commensurate with our mission in the 21st century, Archbishop Spalding must expand its campus.
- To insure that Archbishop Spalding is accessible to all deserving and qualified young men and women, we must significantly increase our financial aid pool.
- To recruit the best new faculty and retain those we already have, we must increase the size of our Professional Development budget enabling us to offer added benefits to our faculty and staff.
In response to these challenges, Archbishop Spalding High School's Board of Directors has approved an ambitious strategic plan. The cornerstone of this effort is Transforming Dreams - $6 million giving program, embracing endowment growth, building and renovation projects, and annual sustaining support. Gifts to the program will compliment a variety of other revenue streams, including tuition and fees, auxiliary income, and a significant bond issue. Together, these monies form a comprehensive, long-term funding pool to implement Archbishop Spalding High School's strategic vision for the future.
